This story is AU following the events of HBP, but does incorporate some new canon when possible. It begins shortly after the end of The Winter Prince, which begins about eighteen months after Houses of Stone.

So, a really, really embarassingly long time ago I promised egoteabsolvo a drabble from my Winter Prince sequel, and I really meant to post it STAT. But I couldn't, because I hadn't written it, and because I didn't know where the story was going, and I was getting frustrated and (run-on-sentence) it turns out the story is going somewhere different. Therefore, without further apologies, and without any explanations whatsoever:

You may have noticed there's been a considerable delay in the posting of the third part of The Winter Prince. I'd like to claim that I have a really exciting life, or that I have writer's block, or something. But really, my only excuse is sheer laziness. I've written half of the final part, (about 6 of 12 pages) and I'm going to post them here and now. I will finish the story; believe it or not, I have been working on it pretty steadily. I write about three lines of it every day. This is a draft, but it's complete, if unedited. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't read it; if you're like me and can't stand WiPs, I'm sorry and I hope this in some way appeases you :)

My boyfriend has just put a bumpersticker on my car that says "Now that you schmucks have conquered Iraq why don't you move there?" I love him for his politics and not for his tact. At least he put the "Fuck Bush" one on his own car. I've tried to explain to him that Maryland is different from Massachusetts but I guess he'll have to find out for himself.
